HOME HEALTH CARE/CDPAP
CDPAP provides families with an alternative option to traditional home care. CDPAP is a Medicaid program that promotes and enables member independence by allowing them to take more control over the level of home care they receive and from whom they receive it. Members enrolled in CDPAP have the freedom to select their own caregivers, which allows them to receive their care from an individual whom they are comfortable with and whom they trust.
Although there are some restrictions, members are able to hire anyone ranging from children, siblings, cousins and friends to assist with their daily living activities. Parents of children age 20 or younger, spouses, and member’s designated representatives are ineligible to be hired as a CDPAP personal assistant.
You or your designated representative must be willing and able to:
Make informed choices related to personal care and/or nursing services that you receive at home.
Hire, supervise, schedule, and terminate your personal assistant(s). You must also have alternative workers trained and available in the event that your primary assistant cannot report to work for any reason.
Maintain an appropriate home environment for the safe delivery of care.
Train the personal assistant(s) to implement the plan of care established by your Care Manager.
Work with a dedicated Fiscal Intermediary (FI) that will administer payroll and tax withholdings required by State and Federal Law as well as Disability, Worker’s Compensation, health insurance, and unemployment insurance on your behalf. The FI will take care of the financial side, allowing you the freedom to direct your care without being overburdened with paperwork.
Verify and approve hours worked and submit time sheets to the FI.
Inform Integra and the FI of any change in your medical condition or social circumstances including any hospitalizations, vacations, or changes in address or telephone number.
You may voluntarily disenroll from CDPAP at any time and receive traditional personal care services instead.
